Create your Presentation

Present your insights on the simulation results to the executives or to your team by using the Presentation Mode available in the Simulate Tab.

Find below an example slide of a completed presentation done using the presentation tab in ValQ.

Steps to create a presentation

To create a presentation and present, click Present option.

Scenario Analysis

The first slide shows the Trend, Variance Breakdown and the Simulation Impact of the first scenario. To view similar charts for other scenarios that you have created, use the dropdown menu in the top right corner and choose from the list.

To insert the desired scenario's analysis charts as a new slide in the presentation, use Insert->Scenarios at the bottom panel.

Along with the charts, the simulations performed to the key drivers and their impact on the KPIs are displayed alongside for a comprehensive view.

Layout: Change the layout of the slide (row or column layout) by clicking on Layout option.

Simulation Period: Choose the scenario analysis to be displayed for full year or only for the simulated months.

Scaling: Options to change the scaling of numbers, increase or decrease decimals are also available at the top.

Notes and Violations: To view any added notes or violations that occurred click on the Notes and Violations icon.

Scenario Comparison

This tab presents the comparison of all the scenarios created, existing data series and created plan series which you can select or deselect as required. Refer Compare Scenarios to know more.

Add Custom Slide

To add a custom slide, click Insert->Blank Slide.

This creates a blank slide with a default layout of title and content.

Layout

  • Choose the desired layout for your slide by clicking on the Layout option and select any one of the available styles.

  • Alternatively, you can design your custom layout by using the Add Row and Add Column options. These options allow you to split the available space into desired number of rows and columns.

  • You can also click on the content outline and use the three-dots menu available on it to split the space into columns or rows. Use the Vertical ellipsis to split into columns and horizontal ellipsis to split into rows.

Adding Content

Click on the content space to add your content which can be a text, image or a chart. Use the drop down menu at the top to choose between these three options.

  • Choose Text to add textual content.

  • Choosing Chart opens the chart configuration pop-up where you create and configure charts for desired nodes and scenarios.

Chart Configuration

The chart types available are

  1. Line & Bar chart

  2. Trellis chart

  3. Waterfall chart

After choosing Chart from the drop down menu, choose the desired chart from the chart type list to add.

Every chart configuration has two sections to configure - General and Appearance.

General

1. Line and Bar Chart

Select Node and Scenario: Choose the required data series to be plotted on your chart by selecting the desired node from the desired scenario with the help of Select Node and Select Scenario menus.

When you select the node, a chart preview is shown on the left side.

Every time you change the node/scenario, or chart type, or modify any other configuration settings, you can see a chart preview with applied changes on the left side, giving you a rough idea of what the chart would look like. This significantly simplifies chart creation.

Chart Type: This menu is to specify whether the given data series should be created as a line chart or a bar chart.

Value Labels: Show or hide the value labels using this drop-down menu.

Show Symbol: This is to show or hide the data point symbol on the charts.

Add Series: Add additional series of a different node and a scenario to your existing line and bar chart to create multi-series charts. Depending on the series you choose, they either share the same axis or a multi axis chart is created.

Click the bin icon to remove a series from the chart.

Pick a color for your data series from the color palette which opens on clicking the color grid icon beside the Series option.

Depending upon the chart type, there are additional options available as shown in the images below.

2. Waterfall Chart

Waterfall Type: In waterfall chart type, you can either create a variance breakdown chart or a Simulation Impact breakdown chart by clicking on the desired option.

3. Trellis Chart

In Trellis chart, you just have to choose the node and the scenario.

Appearance

This section in the chart configuration pop-up has options to show, hide or edit other additional chart attributes like Legend, Value Labels, Axes Labels, Axes Grids, Symbol and Period Range for your chart as shown in the images below.

After choosing the desired options, click Apply to add it to your slide.

This way you can create multiple charts for your scenario analysis in custom slides to present them to your team. Hovering over the charts displays the tool tip.

Some additional features supported by the Presentation view include:

  1. Renaming, Re-ordering and Deleting a slide.

  2. Text formatting features like Bold, Italic, Underline, Ordered/Unordered list, Font colour, Font size, Text Alignment and Background colour are available to customize your text.

  3. You can add links to your presentation.

  4. Multiple charts can be presented on a single slide.
